Over the first nine months of this year, the income of Tajikistan’s communications service providers has amounted to 2.644 billion somonis (equivalent to about 260 million U.S. dollars), which 14.4 percent or 331.4 million somonis (equivalent to 32.6 million US dollars) more than in the same period last year in nominal terms (inflation and revaluations not provided), the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan says.
In particular, the income of the national telecom operator Tajiktelecom, State Unitary Enterprise Pochtai Tojik (Tajik Post) and structural divisions of the communications service agency has risen 4.6 percent in nine months to September 30, reaching a total of 146 million somonis.
Over the reporting period, private communications service providers have reportedly earned a total of 2.172 billion somonis, which is 15 percent more than in the same period last year.
As of October 1, 2022, a total number of Internet users in Tajikistan was 6.4 million; 5.5 million of them are active Internet users.
There are five mobile service providers now operating in Tajikistan: Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Indigo Tajikistan (Tcell); CJSC TT-Mobile (Megafon Tajikistan); CJSC Babilon-Mobile; Tacom LTD (ZerMobile); and CJSC O’Mobile.
