An international motor rally through the territories of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Armenia, dubbed Caravan of Friendship, is expected to begin in Dushanbe on April 24 and to end Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, on May 10, according to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan (MoT).
An official source at a MoT says four-wheel-drive vehicles will move along the following route: Dushanbe-Ayni-Panjakent-Tajikistan’s border with Uzbekistan-Samarkand, Navoi-Bukhara-Uzbekistan’s border with Turkmenistan-Turkmenabad-Mary-Ashgabat-Turkmenistan’s border with Iran-Mashhad-Nishapour-Gorgan-Sari-Tehran-Tabriz-Iran’s border with Armenia-Meghri—Yerevan. A total length of this route is around 4,000 kilometers.
Five international scientific-practical conferences are planned to be carried out in Dushanbe, Samarkand, Ashgabat, Tehran and Yerevan as well as a mobile international seminar, according to the source.
Besides, the rally participants will hold meetings with people in the regions aimed at studying and promoting road business, construction and operation of highways and bridges, as well as improving road safety and strengthening friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Armenia and their peoples.
The motor rally organizers reportedly also want to show tourism opportunities of the countries participating in this rally.
