At least seven people killed and some others wounded in terrorist attack in southern Iran

Citing Iranian officials, IRNA reports that least at least seven people were killed and some others wounded in a terrorist attack in the city of Izeh in Iran’s southern province of Khuzestan Wednesday (November 16) night.

Tehran Times says a nine-year-old child, a 45-year-old woman, and three youths are among the dead.

Security officials in Khuzestan province said two gunmen on motorbikes started shooting at people and law enforcement officers in the center of the town, using war weapons.

The attack took place at the city’s central market.

According to ISNA, the seminary in the city was also put on fire.

Head of Khuzestan’s Justice Department Ali Dehghani said three of the culprits involved in the attack have been detained.

Ali Dehghani said that efforts are being made to identify and arrest the other elements involved in the terrorist act.

Following the deadly attack, three days of mourning were announced in Izeh and one day in Khuzestan.

Meanwhile, Tehran Times reported on November 16 that two "defenders of security" were killed and two others injured in another terrorist attack that occurred in Isfahan Wednesday night.

The public relations office of the IRGC in Isfahan province was cited as saying that two attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, shot at security forces in which “two were martyred and two others injured.”
