DUSHANBE, November 27, Asia-Plus — the work on drafting an agreement between Tajikistan and Russian on labor activity and protection of rights of Russian nationals in Tajikistan and rights of Tajik nationals in Russia was a major topic of the eighth meeting of the Tajik-Russian Working Group (WG) for Migration that took place here from November 22 to November 23.
Co-chaired by Safiallo Devonayev, head of the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan and Anatoly Kuznetsov, deputy director of Russia’s federal Migration Service (FMS), the meeting considered issues related to implementation of provisions of a memorandum of intent on further cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in the field of labor migration.
We will recall that the document on easing some of the registration restrictions for Tajik migrant workers coming to Russia was signed by Safiallo Devonayev, head of the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan, and Konstantin Romodanovsky, director of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS), in Dushanbe on October 5 this year.
Under this document, the period for registration for Tajik nationals on their arrival in Russia is extended from seven to fifteen days. Besides, the term of work permit for Tajik nationals is extended up to three years.
The working group also discussed the current labor migration situation and the work on preparation of draft government-to-government agreements between Tajikistan and Russia on providing methodical and technical assistance to basic vocational training centers in Tajikistan dealing with pre-immigration training of specialists, establishing the branch of Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU) on the basis of Vocational-and-Technical School # 66 in Dushanbe, and on exchange of information about labor market demands in the Russian Federation and labor resources in Tajikistan for signing.
