DUSHANBE, November 27, 2012, Asia-Plus  — According to World Ultra Wealth-Report 2012-13, released by international consulting company Wealth-X on September 17, 40 multimillionaires with total wealth of 6 billion USD live in Tajikistan.

According to the report, the number of ultra high net worth (UHNW) population in Tajikistan and their total wealth have not changed as compared to 2011.

The report, in particular, notes that Central Asia continued to deliver steady GDP growth.

“Despite a dip in GDP growth in 2011, Central Asia looks set to stabilize at a respectable 6.1% for 2012.  As commodity exports boomed and overseas remittances grew, Central Asia saw steady economic performance in the last two years. In particular, the discovery of some of the world’s largest unexploited mineral deposits in Mongolia led to an unprecedented boom in FDI into the region.

‘Strong public spending growth, development of a new oil field in Kazakhstan and a new gas pipeline network in Turkmenistan are expected to support growth in the sub-region.  With commodity and fuel prices expected to stabilize, the outlook for Central Asia remains optimistic.  The main downside risk comes in the form of political instability, which could destabilize the sub-region and act as a deterrent for investors.

“UHNW population and wealth growth is very much dependent on the maintenance of stability in the sub-region and continued resource demand from external countries.”

According to the report, there are now 140 UHNW people with totaled with of 20 billion USD in Kazakhstan and 80 UHNW people with total wealth of 12 billion USD in Uzbekistan.

The report considers only individuals with a net worth of US $30 million or more.  Globally, there are now 187,380 people in the ultra wealthy bracket, an increase of 0.6% over the previous year.  Their combined wealth, however, shrank by 1.8% to US$25.8 trillion.

Their total wealth still surpasses the combined GDP of the USA and China by US$3.5 trillion, the report said, noting that there are now 2,160 billionaires in the world, an increase of 9.4%.  Their combined wealth has reportedly grown by 14% to US$6.2 trillion.

In the next five years, Wealth-X forecasts that the world’s UHNW population will grow by an annual average of 3.9% and the wealth attributable to the UHNW population is expected to grow by 5 percent.

Wealth-X is a global ultra high net worth (UHNW) prospecting, intelligence and wealth due diligence firm.  It reportedly works with 8 of the top 10 global private banks, leading educational institutions, not-for-profits and luxury brands.
