DUSHANBE, October 23, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Presentation of the report “Protection of Child Rights in Tajikistan: Advantages and Disadvantages” is being held in Dushanbe today.

The report was prepared by the public association Law and Welfare.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Law and Welfare chairperson Najiba Shirinbekova said that the main objective of the meeting is in discussing legislative and structural foundations of protection of  child rights as well as adopting recommendation on reforming the child rights protection system in Tajikistan.  

Representatives of parliament, Ministry of Labor, UNICEF CO in Tajikistan, British Children’s Legal Center, the Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law are participating in the meeting, Ms. Shirinbekova said.  

On sidelines of the report presentation a roundtable meeting is being held to discuss education problems, social guarantees of protection of child rights and alternative justice for minors.
