30 new electric buses presented in Dushanbe

They will soon hit the tracks.

On Tuesday May 5, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali participated in the presentation of 30 new electric buses produced by Akia Avesto Automotive Industry Company, the Dushanbe mayor’s office reports.

Previously, the company had already released 60 electric buses, which are currently operating on the roads of the capital.

The electric buses are equipped with heating and air conditioning systems, 6 surveillance cameras, and 2 information screens. The vehicles are manufactured in accordance with European standards, designed for 32 seats, and have a total capacity of up to 100 passengers.

The mayor’s office emphasizes that the total battery capacity of the electric buses is 350 kWh, and the range on a single charge reaches up to 300 km.

The joint venture of Tajikistan and Turkiye, Akia Avesto Automotive Industry, has been operating since January 2018 and is involved in the assembly and production of modern Akia brand buses.

Previously, in August of last year, the Dushanbe mayor’s office signed a contract with Akia Avesto Automotive Industry to purchase 30 new electric buses.

It is reported that the Dushanbe mayor’s office plans to completely transition to electric passenger transport by 2028.
