New Tajik ambassador presents his credentials to Azerbaijani president

DUSHANBE, February 4, 2013, Asia-Plus  — New Tajik Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zohir Saidov presented his credentials to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the end of last week, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

During the event, Azerbaijani president reportedly expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Ilham Aliyev in particular, noted that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Baku in July 2012 paved the way for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.  He stressed that Azerbaijan considers Tajikistan to be Azerbaijan’s friendly country and reliable partner.

In the course of the talks, the sides also discussed issues related to implementation of cooperation agreements, including the program of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan that was signed during Tajik president’s official visit to Baku.

New Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Sherali Jononov met with Pakistani Deputy Foreign Minister Alamagir Babar in Islamabad at the end of last week and presented the copies of his credentials to him.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

We will recall that by president’s decrees Saidov and Jononov were appointed Tajik ambassadors to Azerbaijan and Pakistan respectively on January 3, 2013.
