DUSHANBE, February 4, 2013, Asia-Plus – On Saturday February 2, Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali met with German Ambassador to Tajikistan Doris Hertrampf.

The Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) press center reports the two discussed issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany in sectors like industry and energy, including construction of small power plants (SPPs) and launch of joint ventures for production of solar batteries in Tajikistan.

Besides, they reportedly discussed opportunities of cooperation on the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Trade and Transmission Project (CASA 1000) as well as other projects.

In the course of the talks, Gul Sherali offered the German side to speed up work on modernization of the Oqsou-1 SPP and construction of the Oqsou-2 SPP in the Murgab district, Gorno Badakhshan.

In March 12012, German engineering and consulting firm, Fichtner, completed the preliminary calculations on the feasibility study for construction of SPPs in the Murgab district.  This project includes modernization of the 800kW Oqsou-1 hydroelectric power plant and construction of the 1000kW Oqsou-2 hydroelectric power plant in Murgab.
