DUSHANBE, October 18, 2008, Asia-Plus –  After being closed for one month, the Khorog-based GBAO center for children with physical disabilities, Nour (Light), was reopened on October 16, the Center head Kamol Shanbezoda said in an interview with Khorog news agency Pamir Media.

The Center was suspended from activity in early September for not meeting fire safety requirements.  All shortcomings have been removed and the center has been reopened.

“It is already three years that we have been striving for including our center on a list of recipients of budgetary funds,” said Shanbezoda, “The Center has urgent needs in financial support, otherwise it may be closed.”

The Center has received financial support form international donors so far within the framework of different projects.  “The volume of financial support has reduced and the Center now may be closed,” Kamol Shanbezoda said, noting that more than 500 disabled children in the region need training and rehabilitation.
