DUSHANBE, October 18, 2008, Asia-Plus –  Gorno Badakhshan has increased production of livestock output, Ms. Adolat Haidarova, deputy head of the GBAO agriculture directorate, said.

According to her, all categories of farms in the region have produced 29,305 tons of meet over the first nine months of this year, which 1,900 tons more than in the same period of last year.   

Over the report period, local farmers have produced 94,691 quintals of milk, which is 9,029 quintals more than in January-September 2007.  

            Over the same nine-month period, 2.594 million eggs have been produced in Gorno Badakhshan, which is 5,000 eggs more than in the same period of last year.  

Meanwhile, produce of wool has decreased in the region.  In January-September 2008, all categories of farms have produced 1,616 quintals of wool, which is 9 quintals fewer than in the same period of 2007. 

Production honey has increased over the report period by 11 quintals, reaching 519 quintals, Ms. Haidarova said.
