DUSHANBE, February 14, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Austrian President Heinz Fischer is expected to pay visit to Tajikistan in March.

According to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), this issue was a major topic of a meeting of the CCI head, Sharif Said, with Alenka Arash (phonetically spelled), deputy head, Bureau of Commerce, Austrian Embassy that took place here on February 13.

A business forum with participation for representatives of business communities of Tajikistan and Austria is expected to take place in Dushanbe during Austrian president’s visit.

A cooperation agreement that will be signed between Tajik and Austrian chambers of commerce and industry during the upcoming visit will give a new impulse to expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries, the source said.

The President of Austria is the federal head of state of Austria.  Though theoretically entrusted with great power by the constitution, in practice the President acts, for the most part, merely as a ceremonial figurehead.  The President of Austria is directly elected by universal adult suffrage once in every six years.
