DUSHANBE, February 26, Asia-Plus – Parliamentarians representing the Communist Party (CPR) in the State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament), have offered introduction of visa requirements for migrants from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, Valery Rashkin, the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee for Nationality Affairs, was quoted as saying by Izvestiya.

According to him, Communist MPs have offered a number of amendments to the country’s migration legislation.

Russian MPs are sure that Russia has enough manpower and it is necessary to reduce quotas for labor migrants.

United Russia MP Dmitriy Vyatkin considers that the visa requirements should be introduced for those countries, whose nationals exclude Russians from a number of spheres of Russia’s labor market.  He, however, stressed that the visa requirements must not apply to member nations of the Customs Union (Belarus and Kazakhstan).
