Khayrullo Saidov, the son of businessman and jailed politician Zayd Saidov, stated that the authorities intend to confiscate their last residence located in the center of Dushanbe. He wrote about this in his Facebook post, noting that after the court’s decision is executed, his family will be left without a roof over their heads.

According to Khayrullo Saidov, the decision to confiscate the house was made by the court several years ago, but now court executors have begun its implementation. In the apartments subject to seizure, he says, 23 people live, including 17 young children. “If the court’s decision is enforced, they will all be left homeless,” he wrote.

“…The court sentenced my father to a long term of imprisonment and seized all the family’s property. But is there a law that allows confiscating property without proof of its illegal origin? Why should the wife and children of the convicted suffer?” writes Saidov.

In his appeal, he urged the Tajik authorities to show mercy: “Have pity on our little children, do not let the tears of these little ones fall, do not let them end up on the street in this difficult time for us.”

In the Supreme Court of Tajikistan, Radio Ozodi was informed that the sentence against Zayd Saidov and the decision to confiscate his property “has long been in force,” and the implementation of these measures is “under the jurisdiction of other authorized bodies.”

The execution of court decisions is entrusted to the Enforcement Service, and the confiscated property, which becomes state property, is transferred to the Committee on Investment and State Property Management.

Zayd Saidov held the post of Minister of Industry of Tajikistan, and after his dismissal, he went into business. He tried to create his own party, “New Tajikistan.” In 2013, he was arrested and sentenced to 26 years of imprisonment on 4 articles of the Criminal Code, including for bribery and fraud, in 2015, an additional three years were added to the term for document forgery and illegal privatization.
