DUSHANBE, April 8, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Vice-President of India, Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari, will pay an official visit to Tajikistan in mid-April, Davlat Nazriyev, head of the Tajik MFA information department , told journalists in Dushanbe on April 5.

Indian vice-president’s visit to Tajikistan is expected to take place from April 14 to April 17.

While in Dushanbe, Indian Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and India and will visit Tajik State Technical University.

Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari is also scheduled to visit the Tajik cities of Khujand and Kulob, the Tajik MFA spokesman said.

Born on April 1, 1931, Mohammad Hamid Ansari is the 14th and current Vice President of India, in office since 2007.  After Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Hamid Ansari is the only person to get elected for the post of Vice President of India at two consecutive terms.  He also presently serves as President of the Indian Institute of Public Administration and Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
