DUSHANBE, October 8, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Participants at the ongoing 21st joint session of the coordination council and Eurasia coordination expert group yesterday signed an agreement on establishment of an international air navigation service Vostok (East).

The session is being held in Sochi and its participants include air navigation service heads from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Russian news agency Itar-Tass cited Alexander Neradko, the head of Russia’s Federal Air Navigation Service, as saying that the establishment of the international air navigation service, East, is aimed at improving safety of flights, providing strategic planning, and coordinating joint actions on improvement and modernization of means and systems of automation of air traffic flow management.

During the session, it was noted that every minute in the sky of states that joined the consortium there are up to 150 thousand passengers.

The session is concluding tomorrow, October 9.

The international air navigation service, Vostok, was established within the framework of the Eurasia coordination council, which was established in November 1999 to coordinate the legal and technical operation of air traffic, development of international air routes, training, organizing and conducting joint work of national planning of air traffic.
