Tajik FM leaves for Almaty to attend the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process

DUSHANBE, April 25, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi today left for Almaty, Kazakhstan to attend the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process on regional Security and Cooperation for a Secure and Stable Afghanistan (Istanbul Process) that will take place there on April 26.

While in Almaty, Zarifi will deliver a statement at the conference and hold a number of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations of foreign nationals as well as international and regional organizations, the Tajik MFA information department. 

Foreign ministers of Afghanistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, UAE and high-ranking officials from other countries as well as senior representatives of international and regional organizations will take part in the 3rd Ministerial Meeting in Almaty.

Launched on November 2, 2011 at the foreign ministers’ meeting in Istanbul, the Istanbul Process is aimed to foster confidence and increase trust among Afghanistan”s neighbors and other states involved in the stabilization of this country.  The first ministerial conference of the Istanbul Process was held in Kabul on June 14, 2012.
