Tajikistan, Poland to sign cooperation memorandum

DUSHANBE, October 6, 2006, Asia-Plus  – On Friday October 3, Chairman  of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Sharif Said, met with visiting Polish-Turkish Chamber of Commerce Deputy Chairman Grzegorz Kobylecki.

According to the CCI press service, issues related to preparations for signing of Tajik-Polish memorandum of cooperation were a major topic of the meeting.   

In the course of the talks, Mr. Grzegorz Kobylecki noted that Polish companies would like to in Tajikistan and stated that Poland is interested in funding various projects aimed at enhancing water consumption and energy sectors as well as constructing roads, schools and hospitals in Tajikistan.  

For his part, Sharif Said noted that the volume of the Tajik-Polish trade is currently low and there is considerable room for expansion of economic ties between the two countries.  Signing of the memorandum of cooperation could promote development of a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Poland, the Tajik CCI head said, noting that the draft memorandum will be sent to Kobylecki by e-mail.  

The Polish-Turkish Chamber of Commerce deputy head noted he will familiarize himself with the draft memorandum and will visit Dushanbe again in mid-November for detailed discussion and signing of the document.
