DUSHANBE, July 1, 2013, Asia-Plus – On June 28, Ryan Evans, Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO) of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan, congratulated 18 participants from Tajikistan”s Ministry of the Interior, State Committee on National Security, and National Guard for completing the “Managing an Antiterrorism Training Program” course, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe said.
ARSO Evans stated that the course is one of several Antiterrorism Assistance (ATA) courses planned in 2013 for Tajikistan’s law enforcement officers, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy’s Regional Security Office. He went on to thank the participants for their great efforts and contributions in training new law enforcement personnel.
The ATA Office was established in 1983 and is part of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security. It is an essential U.S. Government mechanism that provides training, equipment, and technology to partner governments actively engaged in fighting terrorism.
Since 1992, the American people have provided over $1 billion in programs and humanitarian aid that support Tajikistan’s democratic institutions, health care, education and economic growth.
