DUSHANBE, July 23, 2013, Asia-Plus – This summer, the hottest weather is expected to be in Tajikistan from July 27-30.
The Tajik Hydrometeorology Center forecasts temperatures will be from +41ºC to +46ºC in lower elevations of Khatlon, from 38ºC to 43ºC in lower elevations of districts subordinate to the center, and up to +43ºC in lower elevations of Sughd province. In mountain areas, temperatures are expected to fluctuate from 35ºC to +40ºC over the report period.
There is a probability of disasters from July 27-30 as a result of high air temperatures, leading to high river water and the melting of glaciers. There is risk of avalanches at elevations ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 meters above sea level.
