DUSHANBE, August 16, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday evening received an Afghan government delegation.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the sides discussed issues related to implementation of documents on bilateral and regional cooperation aimed at promoting expansion of trade and economic as well as energy and transportation cooperation between the two countries.
Preparation of a trilateral trade and transit agreement between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, practical implementation of regional projects such as the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA 1000) and construction of the rail link connecting Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan as well as opening of new crossing points on Tajik-Afghan border were among major topics of the talks.
They reportedly also discussed training of railroaders for Afghanistan in Tajikistan and increase in Tajik electricity deliveries to Afghanistan.
