DUSHANBE, October 14, 2013, Asia-Plus  – Tajikistan now generates 39.912 million kWh of electricity per day, which is 5 million kWh more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MoEI).

“Of this amount, 38.432 million kWh are consumed inside the country and only 1.480 million kWh of electric power are exported to Afghanistan (1.312 million kWh) and Kyrgyzstan (168,000 kWh),” an official source at a MoEI told Asia-plus in an interview on October 14.

According to him, electricity generation is expected to decrease beginning from November and Tajikistan will stop the export of electricity to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

As of October 14, the water level in the reservoir powering the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was reportedly 910 meters above sea level, 58 centimeters higher than in the same period last year, and 53 meters above the “dead level” (857 meters).
