DUSHANBE, October 28, 2013, Asia-Plus — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) reports that Tajikistan saw bank deposits grow by 595 million somoni in the first nine months of this year to 5.320 billion somoni, reflecting the expanding economy and rising public confidence in the banking sector.

According to data of Tajik central bank, individual deposits have reached 3.290 billion somoni and corporate deposits have reached 1.895 billion somoni.

Local currency deposits have reached 1.7 billion somoni, while foreign currency deposits have reached 3.484 billion somoni.

Local currency deposits reportedly carry a weighted average interest rate of 15.67 percent at the moment versus 11.34 percent for foreign currencies.
