DUSHANBE, October 28, 2013, Asia-Plus — The remainder of loans provided by Tajik banks increased by 1.558 billion in nine months to September 30, 2013, reaching 7.0505 billion somoni, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Of this amount, 132.8 million somoni have been provided by the National Bank of Tajikistan and 6.9 billion somoni have been provided by commercial banks and microcredit organizations.

Over the first nine months of this year, little more than 4.3 billion somoni have been provided in loans in foreign currencies and 2.7 billion somoni have been provided in loans in the national currency. 

The weighted average interest rate for loans provided in the national currency was 23.99 percent and the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in foreign currencies was 22.93 percent, Tajik central bank noted.

Overdue loan debts have reportedly reached 695.305 million somoni.

According to Tajik central bank, 143 credit organizations, including 16 banks, 37 microloan deposit organizations, 44 microloan organizations and 46 microloan funds now function in Tajikistan.
