DUSHANBE, March 7, 2014, Asia-Plus — Organized by the United Nation Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), a two-day meeting of senior officials of Central Asia’s nations is concluding in Vienna, Austria today.

According to the UNRCCA press center, the meeting participants include representatives of ministries and agencies of Central Asian states, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS), the World Bank, relevant UN agencies, as well as international experts.

They are reportedly discussing problems of the interpretation and effective application of basic principles of international law on the management of trans-boundary water resources.

The purpose of the two-day meeting is to discuss mechanisms of practical implementation of basic principles and norms of international law in order to prevent disputes and promote cooperation in the Aral Sea Basin.
