Online data entry for the electronic health information system launched in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, March 13, 2014, Asia-Plus – The European Union funded project, Technical Assistance to Support the Strengthening of the Health Information System in Tajikistan, presented the current status of the project activities to its Steering Committee.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, the project is focused on strengthening the health management information system for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and Ministry of Justice, Civil Registration Office.

The DHIS2 information system has been adjusted, configured and installed on the central servers.  The first 20 districts and Dushanbe city were connected to the system. The data entry started in online regime in the first five health centers in Dushanbe.  The status of online data entry has been demonstrated during the project’s Steering Committee Meeting.  The deployed system will allow improvement of the quality of collected, analyzed data and reported health statistics.

New modules for the information system were developed for the Civil Registration Office, aiming to collect seven types of vital events, including birth, death, marriage, divorce, filiation, adoption, and change of name.  The implementation of the information system started in CRO main office, Marriage House of Dushanbe city, four district CROs, and Shahrinav CRO office.

The accompanied technical assistance EUR 3.4 million project, Technical Assistance to Support the Strengthening of the Health Information System, which focuses on the roll-out a country-wide electronic reporting system, will last till May 2016 and is being implemented by EPOS Health Management (Germany) in consortium with ICON-Institute Public Sector (Germany), Oslo University (Norway) and IrfatC (Tajikistan).
