DUSHANBE, March 24, 2014, Asia-Plus – Russia’s lower house (State Duma) of parliament has ratified the protocol on making amendments the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on labor activity and protection of rights of Tajik nationals in Russia and protection of rights of Russian nationals in Tajikistan.

Under this protocol, Tajik nationals are now eligible to obtain three-year work permits in Russia, instead of the previous one-year work permits.

We will recall that according to a memorandum signed by the presidents of Tajikistan and Russia in Dushanbe on January 17, 2014, Tajik nationals now may stay in the Russia Federation for 15 days without registering instead of the previous seven days.

The protocol and the memorandum providing for the mentioned change have been developed in line with implementation of the memorandum of intent on easing some of the registration restrictions for Tajik migrants coming to Russian that was signed in Dushanbe on October 5, 2012.
