DUSHANBE, May 26, 2014, Asia-Plus – As part of his official visit to Belarus, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on May 25 visited the Minsk Free Economic Zone (FEZ Minsk) to get acquainted with its activities.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Emomali Rahmon met with top managers of Alutekh, which is one of corporate entities of FEZ Minsk.

Being engaged in processing primary aluminum, Alutekh has reportedly cooperated with the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) since 2012.

According to information posted in FEZ Minsk’s website, it was established on March 2, 1998 for the period of 30 years.  FEZ Minsk is a part of the territory of Belarus with strictly determined borders and special legal treatment that stipulates more favorable conditions in comparison with usual ones for conducting business and other economic activities.

FEZ Minsk was reportedly established for: attraction of foreign and national investments; creation of export-oriented and import-substituting productions, implementation of new technologies; economic and social development of FEZ territory, creation of new working places.

Today 143 enterprises operate in FEZ Minsk, with 26253 workplaces.  They rented 135,100 sq m of production areas, built or owned 211,120 sq m.  The resource of free land is reportedly almost ended.

On Saturday May 24, President Emomali Rahmon visited Belarusian State University (BSU).  He was awarded a degree of an Honorary Professor at the BSU.  Tajik president reportedly asked the BSU to allocate an annual quota for 100 Tajik students. 

Belarusian State University (BSU) Minsk, Belarus, was founded on October 30, 1921.  The BSU is a top-rated higher education establishment in Belarus.  Belarusian State University owns a large number of buildings at various locations within the city of Minsk.  The BSU is an integral complex of academic, research, production, social and cultural, administrative, auxiliary and other units.

There are 16 Faculties within the university structure.  BSU has 4 Educational Institutes that provide training on undergraduate and post-graduate levels of education.  There are a number of institutes that conduct retraining and advanced training of both youths and adults.
