DUSHANBE, May 8, 2014, Asia-Plus — Investigators from the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province have launched investigation into the violence that broke out along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border in the evening of May 7.
“A special investigation group, led by the chief of the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd, Major-General Sharif Nazarov, is currently working at the scene of incident,” an official source at the Sughd regional administration told Asia-Plus today morning.
According to him, investigators are questioning local residents and witnesses of the yesterday’s clashes in which at least 60 people from both sides were injured.
“The situation along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border is under control and reinforced patrols of Tajik and Kyrgyz border gourds and police officers have promised to prevent further escalation of clashes,” the source added.
