DUSHANBE, October 3, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Friday October 3, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated Federal President of Germany, Joachim Gauck, on the occasion of the Day of German Unity, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In his message of congratulations, Tajik president, in particular, expresses satisfaction with the current level of Tajik-German cooperation. 

“Tajikistan attaches significant importance to expansion of bilateral cooperation with Germany  and is sure that the use of existing potential will bring new successes,” the message says.

The Day of German Unity is the national day of Germany, celebrated on October 3 as a public holiday.  It commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990, when the goal of a unity of Germany was fulfilled.  Therefore, the name addresses neither the re-union nor the union, but the unity of Germany. The Day of German Unity on October 3 has been the German national holiday since the reunification in 1990, when the German reunification was successful.  It is a legal holiday for the Federal Republic of Germany.
