DUSHANBE, January 8, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda yesterday met here with Mr. Takashi Kamada, Ambassador, Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) press center, state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan were a major topic of the meeting.
Tajik minister appreciated Japan’s support for development of Tajikistan’s economy.
Ambassador Kamada, for his part, reportedly expressed satisfaction with favorable investment conditions in Tajikistan and noted that Japan’s largest companies were ready to participate in investment projects in various sectors of Tajikistan’s economy.
According to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a trade between Tajikistan and Japan in January-November 2014 has valued at little more than 8.8 million U.S. dollars (3.5 times more than in the same period 2013). This reportedly consisted of Tajikistan exports to Japan estimated at little more than 600,000 U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Japan worth 8.2 million U.S. dollars.
