DUSHANBE, January 30, 2015, Asia-Plus – Minister of Transport Khairullo Asozoda heading a Tajik government delegation participated in the 11th annual meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA that took place in Istanbul, Turkey on January 29.

According to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) press center, the issue of the international transport corridor TRACECA for the period of the presidency of Tajikistan in the IGC TRACECA, the progress of the implementation of the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA for development of the corridor by the MLA states-participants in 2013-2015, and measures for the implementation of the Concept of Development of International Road Traffic were discussed.

The Intergovernmental Commission reportedly also discussed the progress of implementation of the EU-TRACECA Technical Assistance Projects for the past period, in particular of the Projects “Transport Dialogue and Networks Interoperability II” (IDEA II), “Land Transport Safety and Security II”, “Civil Aviation II”, as well as the TRACECA Project “Maritime Safety and Security II”.  

At the meeting there was held the procedure of handing-over the presidency in the IGC TRACECA from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Turkey, signing of the Final Resolutions of the Eleventh Annual Meeting (Conference) of the IGC TRACECA and adoption of the Istanbul Declaration.

We will recall that Khairullo Asozoda told journalists in Dushanbe on January 26 that he will meet with Uzbek counterpart on the sidelines of the IGC TRACECA annual meeting in Istanbul to discuss resumption flight between Dushanbe and Tashkent.

TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) is an international transport program involving the European Union and 14 member States of the Eastern European, Caucasian and Central Asian region.  It has a permanent Secretariat, originally financed by the European Commission, in Baku, Azerbaijan, and a regional office in Odessa, Ukraine.  Since 2009 the organization has been entirely financed by member countries.
