DUSHANBE, June 13, Asia-Plus — Over 18 years of sovereignty, Russia has had to pass uneasy way of disputes, conflicts, tragedies and striving for the new, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Ramazan Abdulatipov, remarked at a reception in the Russian embassy in Dushanbe on June 12. The reception was organized on the occasion of a Russia Day.
The ambassador stressed that the most important thing had been not only not to lose historical Russia and old friends but also acquire new friends.
Mr. Abdulatipov noted that many challenges and threats now face today’s complex and inconsistent world pose and the only way to address those challenges and threats is the way of cooperation.
Underlining the importance of interconnectivity and interdependency of peoples and countries, Russian envoy pointed to the necessity of not retreating into oneself but providing freedom and equality.
Ambassador Abdulatipov noted that Russia had reached economic stability and the main goal of the government is to provide wellbeing of the people, human freedoms and rights.
Highly appraising recent meeting of Dmitry Medvedev and Emomali Rahmon in St. Petersburg, he noted that an official visit of the Russian president to Tajikistan will be organized during a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) in Dushanbe. He noted that the visit will give a new impulse to further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the reception, Tajik Minister of Labor and Social Protection Shukurjon Zuhurov noted that the results of the meeting of the two presidents is a kid of demonstration of mutual decision to promote further strengthening of historical friendship and mutual respect of the peoples of Tajikistan and Russia.
Senior representatives from president’s office, government and parliaments, as well as chiefs of diplomatic missions, as well as known Tajik public figures and artistes attended the reception.
