DUSHANBE, February 9, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik First Deputy Finance Minister, Jamoliddin Nouraliyev, has met here with Mr. Daniel Rosenblum, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia.

According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Secretariat, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in the field of energy.

They, in particular, discussed the feasibility study for implementation of the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA-1000).

Nouraliyev and Rosenblum reportedly noted that the CASA-1000 Project was an important and timely step towards further expansion of the regional cooperation.

They also discussed prospects of construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Tajikistan, the Secretariat said.

The two reportedly also touched upon issues related to impact of anti-Russian sanctions on Tajikistan’s economy.

They pointed out the significance of implementation of the upcoming programs and the necessity of coordination of Tajikistan’s collaboration with the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other international finance institutions, the Secretariat said.
