DUSHANBE, February 11, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) today ratified an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Coca-Cola Icecek A.S. on construction of a soft drink producer n Tajikistan.
Presenting the agreement, Lochin Fayzullozoda, the first deputy head of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), noted that the agreement provided for attraction of 50 million U.S. dollars in direct investment for construction of the Coca Cola bottling plant in the country.
Construction of the plant will begin in Dushanbe in May this year, Fayzullozoda noted.
Under the agreement that was singed here last month, at the first stage, Coca-Cola Icecek is expected to invest 30 million U.S. dollars in the construction of this plant, which will have 100 million liters in production capacity and 20 million U.S. dollars will be invested at the second stage of the project.
Coca-Cola Icecek A.S. is an anchor bottler and a part of the Coca-Cola System. It is 50.3% owned by Anadolu Efes S.K., 20% owned by the Coca-Cola Company, 4% owned by Ozgorkey Holding, and the remaining 25.6% publicly traded on the Turkish stock exchanges. It is the 6th largest bottler in the Coca-Cola System in terms of sales volume. The company is headquartered in Istanbul.
The company is the bottler of Coca-Cola products in Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Jordan, as well as its home country of Turkey.
