DUSHANBE, April 8, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) speaker has said that heads of some ministries and agencies ignore the Majlisi Namoyandagon sessions.

A regular sitting of the first session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, took place on April 8.

Opening the sitting, Zuhurov noted that heads of ministries and agencies must participate in discussion of the issues related to their offices.

“Heads of the Interior Ministry, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) and the Ministry of Finance were supposed to participate in today’s discussions,” said Zuhurov.  “Heads of the Interior Ministry and the SCNS phoned me and said that they cannot attend the meeting for valid reasons and that their deputies will attend the meeting.  Meanwhile, the minister of finance even did not deign to phone.”

Zuhurov ordered relevant persons in the parliament to strictly control that issue.  “If senior representatives of ministries and agencies do not participate in the session without valid reasons, the issue related to their offices will be removed from the session’s agenda,” he stressed.

Today, the Majlisi Namoyandagon discussed amendments proposed to the law on the national budget for 2015 and considered a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Iran on cooperation for law and order and strengthening security and an agreement on cooperation among the CSI nations on providing information security.
