DUSHANBE, April 10, 2015, Asia-Plus — On Thursday April 9, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidi, met here with Mrs. Rabina Athar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan.

The Tajik MFA information department says the two exchanged views on state and prospects further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

In this connection, they noted that the tripartite transit trade agreement between Tajikistan Afghanistan and Pakistan would be of significant importance for expansion of regional economic cooperation.

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Pakistan last year valued at approximately 90 million USD, which was 3.3 percent fewer than in 2013.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Pakistan estimated at little more than 19 million USD and Tajikistan’s imports from Pakistan worth more than 70 million USD.

, reported on April 9 that Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan would soon sign Tripartite Transit Trade agreement which will boost the trade among the three countries.

While addressing members of Khyber Pukhunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), Federal Minister for commerce Engineer Khurram Dastageer Khan reportedly said that the agreement would solve all problems of the exporters of and they will get maximum benefits of this agreement.

Turkmenistan and another central Asian countries have also shown their interest to become part of this transit trade agreement, he said.
