, May 29, Asia-Plus  — The government considered more than 30 issues at a May 28 session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, according to presidential press service.

 





During the meeting, it was noted that six investment projects totaling 171 million somonis (equivalent to $49.96 million) are currently implemented in the health sector.

 

46.7 percent of these funds are preferential loans and 46.1 percent are grants.

 

As of May 1, 2008, 55.7 million somonis have been drawn.

 

Implementation of the projects is creating new jobs for hundreds of residents and more than 350 medical facilities will be rehabilitated in 41 districts across the country.

  




The head of state charged the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Sate Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management, and the investment project implementation units to remove existing shortcomings, rationally use finance, and speed up the implementation of the projects.

  





The Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov reported on a progress of implementation of the national program for enhancement of agrarian sector.

The government endorsed rules of organization and procedure of preservation of especially protected historical and cultural relics, the press service said.

  






The session also approved a draft prognosis of the main directions of the country’s financial policy for 2008, which is aimed at holding this year’s inflation at the rate of 15 percent and providing a 7 percent production growth.

  






The government endorsed bills requiring amendments to the laws on the Majlisi Oli (parliament), electrical communications, lease, as well as draft government opinion letter on the law on freedom of religion and religious associations.

Speaking at the session, Rahmon charged relevant bodies to tighten fight against drug trafficking, sum up the country’s economic results for January-May, speed up construction of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station (HPS). Modernization of the
