DUSHANBE, May 24, Asia-Plus  — 96 HIV sufferers have died in Tajikistan since 1991, when the first HIV- infection case was officially registered in the country.

This remark was made at the republican conference on the HIV situation in Tajikistan that was held in Dushanbe on May 23.    

According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), 1,153 HIV sufferers have been officially registered in the country so far; some 50 percent of them have been registered over the last two years alone.
