QURGHON, May 5, Asia-Plus  — Criminal proceedings have been instituted against two school principals in the Khatlon province.

Mirzo Fathulloyev, a chief aid to the Khatlon prosecutor, told Asia-Plus on Monday that Khurshed Nazarov, the principal of school # 53 in the Rumi District, is charged with selling face school leaving certificates.

“In 2007 Nazarov received from the Rumi education department 17 blank certificates, while his school had only nine school leavers last year,” said Fathulloyev.  “Nazarov issued five certificates and sold the remaining 12 certificates for $100 each.”  Moreover, the preliminary investigation has established that Nazarov himself does not have higher education and bought a fake diploma in 1996.

Nazarov faces charges of forgery and falsification of documents.

In the meantime, criminal proceedings have also been instituted against A. Mirzoyev, principal of school # 7 in the city Qurghon Teppa, who faces charge of abuse of office.

According to Fathulloyev, the principal has illegally expelled several students for not attending additional lessons without resolution of teachers’ meeting.
