DUSHANBE, August 12, 2015, Asia-Plus — Approximately 38% of bilateral assistance to Tajikistan for the period of 2002 – 2014 comes from China, “AP” was informed by the State Committee on Investments and Management of the State Property of the RT.

The overall assistance of China for the last thirteen years summed up to around $1 billion and 40 million. The State Committee stressed out that the active donors for Tajikistan for this period also include European Union that rendered more than $350 million of assistance (12.8%), the USA – around $ 340 million (12.4%), Japan – more than $ 272 million (10%), Germany – more than $210 million (7.7%).

Among the CIS countries a relatively large assistance for the period of 2002 – 2014 was rendered by Russia. The overall amount of Russian assistance for this period sums up to around $16 million that equals 5.8% out of the overall external assistance rendered to the republic.

As a whole, for the last thirteen years there were $ 2,7 billion of assistance provided by the donor –countries. The amount of an external assistance to Tajikistan for the year of 2014 summed up to more than $183 million.

“A need in sustainable development of Tajikistan requires a more active attraction of international funds into the country. With this purpose Tajikistan cooperates with the donor-countries, bilateral financial institutions, non-governmental organizations and funds”- the representative from the State Committee on Investments and Management of the State Property of the RT stressed out.

Assistance from the donor-countries comes to Tajikistan by means of bilateral intergovernmental agreements through the governments, embassies and cooperation and development agencies, banks and other governmental structures.

Meanwhile, China is the main creditor for Tajikistan, as of the beginning of the second half of current year the dept to this country summed up to $ 942 million.

The overall volume of external dept of Tajikistan for this period sums up to $ 2.1 billion that equals to 19.5% of the republic’s GDP.
