DUSHANBE, January 18, 2016, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has not yet made decision on delineation of a nearly 520-km stretch of its common border with Kyrgyzstan, Akbar Yatimzoda, the head of the State Committee on Land Management and Geodesy of Tajikistan, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 18.
“We have not yet made any decision on this issue,” Yatimzoda said, noting that the Tajik government has not yet received a draft agreement on delineation of a 519.9-km stretch of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.
“Working groups of the two countries have carried out work on delimitation and demarcation of the 519.9-km stretch of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border,” said Tajik official. “There are disputable areas along this stretch of the border and we are preparing for submitting the materials for consideration to the government.”
According to him, some documents have not yet been endorsed by the working group for submission for consideration to the intergovernmental border commission.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyz authorities have already approved the draft agreement on delineation of 519.9 kilometers of its common border with Tajikistan.
The Kyrgyz government’s official website reports that Kyrgyz First Deputy Prime Minister, Aaly Karashev, noted on January 15 that to-date, the Kyrgyz-Tajik commission for delimitation and demarcation of mutual border has made decision on delineation of 519.9 kilometers of the mutual 971-kilometer border.
