EU experts, Tajik partners set guidelines to implement a substance abuse prevention campaign

DUSHANBE, February 8, 2016, Asia-Plus — Experts from Poland presented and discussed with their national partners a prevention campaign addressed to parents and school children to be implemented in selected schools of six pilot districts, according to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan.

A substance abuse prevention campaign will be organized within the Prevention component of the Central Asia Drug Action Program’s sixth phase (CADAP 6).

Participants of the training course that ended on February 5 included representatives from districts’ education departments, branches of National Center for Monitoring and Prevention of Drug Abuse, Republican Centre of Healthy Life style, narcology clinic, public organizations and trainers who will implement the CADAP Prevention component in Tajikistan.

On the second and the third day of the training for trainers to be engaged in and implement the Prevention component in schools, two participants were intensively trained in the prevention program in schools settings.  They were trained to conduct workshops for teachers who will implement the parent-child program with the aim to strengthen family ties and responsive parenting.

The objective of the CADAP Prevention component is to support Central Asian countries in their drug prevention programs employing European best practices and international standards.

The overall objective of the sixth phase of CADAP is to strengthen the capacity of the five Central Asian countries to deal with the drug phenomenon in the region in a comprehensive, integrative and sustainable manner.

CADAP is funded by the European Union and implemented by a Consortium of EU Member States’ agencies coordinated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
