NBT stops operations of one more microlending agency

Date:

DUSHANBE, February 8, 2016 — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has stopped operations of seven microlending organizations.

According to the NBT press center, Tajik central bank stopped operations of Limited Liability Company Hamdasti on February 4.

Hamdasti reportedly failed to comply with the NBT’s minimum capital requirements for the microlending organizations and the NBT recalled its operating license, decreasing a total number of microlending agencies operating in the country to 28.

We will recall that three microlending agencies merged into one microlending agency on January and Tajik central bank stopped operations of twelve microlending agencies last year (five microlending were closed in October and seven others were closed in November).

These microlending organizations reportedly failed to comply with the NBT’s minimum capital requirements for the microlending organizations.

According to Tajik central bank, 127 lending organizations, including 17 banks, one non-bank credit institution, 41 microloan deposit organizations, 28 microlending organizations and 39 microloan funds now operate in Tajikistan.
