DUSHANBE, February 22, 2016, Asia-Plus – One of the purposes of the visit of governor of Kazakhstan’s East-Kazakhstan region to Tajikistan was for him to discuss with Tajik officials the sale of Lada cars in Tajikistan, according to the governor’s official website.

We will recall that visiting Akim (Governor) of Kazakhstan’s East-Kazakhstan Region, Danial Akhmedov, on February 19 met here with Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Azim Ibrohim.

The governor’s official website says the two sides discussed in details issues related to the sale and after-sale maintenance of Lada cars in Tajikistan.

Erzhan Mandiyev, Director-General of the BIPEK AUTO-ASIA AUTO Group, also attended the meeting.

“We see potential in selling our cars in neighboring countries, including Tajikistan, and our main task is to get acquainted with domestic market,” Mandiyev was quoted as saying by the governor’s website.

Lada is a marque of car manufactured by Russian car manufacturer AVTOVAZ based in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast.  It was originally the export brand for models sold under the Zhiguli name in the domestic Soviet market after June 1970.

AVTOVAZ and Kazakhstan’s holding BIPEK-AUTO in October last year signed an agreement on the joint activity in the markets of countries of the Central Asian region.  Under the signed agreement the group of companies, BIPEK AUTO–ASIA AUTO, becomes an official Lada distributor in the markets of countries of the Central Asia region: Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

In September 2014 partners signed an agreement on the joint activity in the markets of Siberian and Urals federal districts of Russia. Under the agreements, the parties established a joint venture, Asia Auto Ust-Kamenogorsk, which carries out distribution, sales and maintenance of Lada cars. Currently infrastructure of a joint venture in Russia numbers 15 auto centers in 10 cities.
