DUSHANBE, April 6, 2016, Asia-Plus – Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have unanimously voted for amendments proposed by the government to the country’s law on licensing of separate types of activity.

A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on April 6.

Speaking at the session, Jamshed Nourmuhammadzoda, the head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), noted that the bill obligated operators of payment terminals to apply for license to the NBT.

“Today, there are more than 3,900 owners of payment terminals in Tajikistan,” the Tajik central bank head noted.

The amendments also obligate lending agencies, which intend to use principles of Islamic banking, to apply for license to the Tajik central bank
