CIS heads of government state to discuss 20 issues at a May 23 meeting

DUSHANBE, March 13, Asia-Plus  — Some 20 issues are supposed to be discussed at a meeting of the CIS heads of government scheduled for May 23. 

The permanent plenipotentiary representatives of the CIS states to the CIS statutory bodies discussed a draft agenda of a meeting of the CIS heads of government at a March 11 meeting in Minsk, Belarus, press release issued by the CIS Executive Committee said.  

Some 20 issues have been tabled to the CIS government heads meeting’s agenda.  Among them are issues related to humanitarian cooperation among the CIS member nations as well as interaction among them in providing economic development and regional security.  

An official web site of the CIS Executive Committee cited Vladimir Buyanov, the head of the organizational department at the CIS Executive Committee, as saying that the upcoming meeting of the CIS council of heads of government will focus on preparation of a draft strategy of CIS economic development as well as concerted transportation policy and issues related to raising a level of the food security within the CIS area.  

            The CIS heads of government are also scheduled to discuss documents on cross-border cooperation, migration, celebrations to mark the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and mutual recognition of the right of preferential travel for veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, as well as joint filmmaking.

Some of these issues will considered at the CIS foreign ministers’ meeting on March 28 and a session of the CIS economic council scheduled for April 4.
