DUSHANBE, April 13, 216, Asia-Plus – A ‘Made in India’ exhibition opened in Dushanbe today.

The fair that is taking place in the building of the State Philharmonic Society of Tajikistan will run through April 27.  The main objective of the exhibition is in boosting a two-way trade between the two countries.

Energy (hydropower), infrastructure, textiles, telecom, information technology, healthcare, agriculture, small scale industries, food processing and consumer goods, entertainment and education have been identified as key sectors for cooperation between Tajikistan and India.

We will recall that the 8th session of India-Tajikistan Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IT-JCM) took place here on January 13-14, 2016.  During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the status of the 7th session of the IT-JCM and agreed to continue the work for execution of the remaining action points mentioned in the Protocol.  At the end of the 8th session of IT-JCM, the two sides signed a new Protocol, which includes an Action Plan for enhanced trade, investment and economic relations between India and Tajikistan.

The two sides expressed interest in cooperating in mining of coal, iron ore, gold and precious and semi-precious stones. They also decided to cooperate in mutually beneficial joint projects in energy, information technology, pharmaceuticals and food & vegetable processing.
