DUSHANBE, March 11, Asia-Plus  — The Democratic Party (DPT) has provided humanitarian assistance to Dushanbe orphanages ## 1 and 2, the DPT deputy head Rahmatullo Valiyev said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the assistance included wheat flour, sugar, onions, potatoes, vegetable oil and other food products.

Valiyev noted that although Tajikistan has received considerable humanitarian aid from international community the situation in the country has not changed.   “Orphanages and centers for the elderly have been affected seriously by extreme winter weather and energy crisis, and therefore we cannot stand aside,” Valiyev said, adding that the party board members intend to visit the center for the elderly in Vahdat the other day.

“Charitable mission is not the main direction of our activity but we are doing all in our in our power for improving the situation in the country and other political parties should also make their contribution within the realms of possible,” the DPT deputy head said.
