DUSHANBE, May 10, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Dushanbe mayor’s office has reportedly decided to allocate 27.963 million somoni (TJS) this year for completion of construction of the Water Park in Dushanbe.
“In the first quarter of this year, the mayor’s office has allocated 6.8 million somoni, 8.9 million somoni will be provided in the second quarter, 10 million somoni will be provided in the third quarter and 2.263 million somoni will be allocated in the fourth quarter,” an official source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The source, however, did not say what company will construct the Water Park.
We will recall that the Dushanbe mayor’s office concluded a contract on construction of the Water Park in Dushanbe with Turkey’s Emek Project Limited in 2004, but the company stopped the construction work in mid-2004, pleading force majeure and did not fulfill its obligations on the contract.
The Dushanbe mayor office reported on February 13, 2014 that Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev on February 12, 2014 met here with Mr. Francesco Ferrari, Vice-President at Italy’s Preston & Barbieri, which won an international tender for completion of construction of the Water Park in Dushanbe.
In the course of the talks, Dushanbe mayor reportedly noted that Preston & Barbieri had proved its reliability during delivery and assembly of attractions for Dushanbe’s Boghi Poytakht Park.
Ubaidulloyev expressed confidence that construction of the Dushanbe Water Park would resume in the near future.
The sides reportedly also discussed issues related to reconstruction of Children’s Park, Ayni and Peoples’ Friendship Parks as well as construction of a new zoo in the Tajik capital.
